***Please note – this listing is for a crochet pattern (written in English using American crochet terms) and is not for the completed item!***
This pattern is for the raccoon and its trash / litter items (a newspaper, apple core, drinks can and banana skin) as well as the opening dumpster to store everything in!
The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.
You will need:
Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesnβt really matter – the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used King Cole Cherished DK weight yarn (equivalent to weight 3, light worsted) and my finished raccoon is 10 cm tall. The dumpster measures approximately 19cm wide and 16cm tall. Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn to make both your dumpster and the raccoon & the accessories to ensure that they will fit.
For the raccoon (pages 4 – 10), you will need the following colours:
* Nose & eye patch colour – I used black (approx. 3.5m per raccoon).
* Face colour – I used cream (approx. 3.5m per raccoon).
* Hands, feet & tail stripe colour – I used grey (approx. 10m per raccoon).
* Main body colour – I used light brown (shade βpebbleβ) (approx. 26.5m per raccoon).
For the dumpster (pages 11 – 18), you will need the following colours:
* Main colour – I used green (shade βparsleyβ) (approx. 315m).
* Wheels colour – I used black (approx. 11m).
* Lid colour – I used grey (approx. 87m).
For the litter / trash (pages 19 – 20), you will need the following colours:
* Can & Apple colour – I used red (approx. 5m to make 1 apple & 1 can).
* Apple core colour – I used cream (approx. 2m per apple).
* Can end colour – I used silver (approx. 2.5m per can).
* Newspaper colour – I used white (approx. 12m per newspaper).
* Newspaper print colour – I used grey (approx. 2m per newspaper).
* Banana skin colour – I used yellow (shade βsunshineβ) (approx. 5.5m per banana skin).
Please Note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.
You will also need:
* A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen – I used a 4mm hook.
* 6mm black safety eyes.
* Some toy stuffing.
* Some finer cream thread for adding the whiskers.
* β7 countβ plastic canvas. I had a 26cm x 33cm sheet (thatβs 10.25 x 13.5 inches) & I used 1.5 sheets. A higher count (thatβs the number of holes per inch) will mean the plastic is more bendy so stick to 7 count if possible.
* Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.
